effective and professional police service to the community. We recognize
that our authority is derived from the community, that we must be
responsive to its needs, and that we are accountable for our actions. We
believe that the police and community share responsibility for
maintaining law and order, and that our relationship with the community
and with each other must be based on mutual respect.
