Lateral Entry Police Officer Application Period Currently OPEN

Lateral Entry Police Officer     (APPLICATION)

The Board of Fire & Police Commissioners of the Village of Bradley is seeking qualified candidates to compile a “Lateral Eligibility Register” for the position of Bradley Police Officer pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Act, 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6(h) and 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-14

Qualifications:   Previously full-time sworn officers of a regular police department in any municipal, county, university or state law enforcement agency, provided they are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and have been active law enforcement officers with their respective law enforcement agency located within the state of Illinois at least two (2) years pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Act.

Successfully complete an oral interview, background investigation, polygraph and in-depth psychological examination.

Qualifications:

Be 21 years of age or 20 years of age with two years of law enforcement studies / Be a High School graduate or GED / Be a United States Citizen / Be of Good Moral Character / Possess Valid Driver’s License

Successful Completion of following is also required:

Mandatory Orientation / Written Examination / Background Examination / Oral Interview / Psychological Testing / Drug Screening / Medical Examination / Completion of State Training Board Requirements / Completion of BPD Filed Training Program / Establish area residency within 6 months

The Village
The Village of Bradley was established in 1892. Bradley is a community located in Kankakee County. Today, the Village is a vibrant community of nearly 14,000 residents which is supported by a sound commercial base, attractive housing and excellent public services. The Working Environment
The Bradley Police Department is Located in the heart of the Village of Bradley. Built in 1976, it houses a communication center, interview rooms and evidence lab. In addition the department houses an indoor firearms range available to all sworn personnel.

The Department
The Bradley Police Department Consists of the Operations Division which is responsible for the patrol function and the Support Services Division which consists of Communications, Records, Public Relations, Investigations and Administration.

The Operations Division conduct day to day patrol functions utilizing the most current and innovative equipment. Officers are equipped with in car mobile data terminals and are dispatched by telecommunicators who are assisted through an Enhanced 9-1-1 system.
